Inspections &
Preventative Maintenance

Catch the warning signs. Plan the repair. Keep your truck working.

A Closer Look Today Can Prevent a Bigger Repair Tomorrow

A worn bushing, a small wheel seal leak, or overdue engine oil may not stop your truck today. Left unchecked, each can lead to damaged components, an unexpected tow, and lost working time.

At Burnside Truck Service, we offer a free multi-point inspection on every piece of equipment that comes through our doors. Our visual and hands-on inspection looks over your equipment from front to back, under the hood and along the chassis. You receive a report with a grading scale highlighting areas of concern, so you can make informed maintenance decisions.

What Our Multi-Point Inspection Looks For

We look for visible leaks, wear, looseness, damage, and developing problems in accessible components. Inspection findings help determine whether further testing or disassembly is needed.

  • Suspension and steering: bushings, mounting points, linkage, and signs of excessive movement or uneven tire wear.
  • Wheel ends and axles: seal leaks, lubricant loss, and evidence of contamination or overheating.
  • Engine and fluids: oil and coolant levels, visible leaks, hoses, belts, and maintenance needs.
  • Brakes, tires, and air systems: visible wear, damage, leaks, and other concerns that need attention.
  • Chassis and supporting systems: loose or damaged components, wiring, and fluid or air lines.

01 / SUSPENSION & STEERING

Catch Worn Bushings Before They Fail

Bushings help control movement and keep suspension components working in their intended positions. As they crack, separate, or develop excessive play, the load can shift to surrounding parts.

Catching a bushing near the end of its service life gives you the opportunity to replace it before excessive movement contributes to poor handling, uneven tire wear, damaged mounting points, or a larger suspension repair.

The goal: identify wear while you can still plan the repair, before the road makes that decision for you.

02 / WHEEL SEALS & AXLES

A Small Seal Leak Can Become a Major Wheel-End Failure

A wheel seal keeps lubricant where the bearings need it and helps keep contamination out. A leak can lower the lubricant level and allow oil onto brake components.

If lubricant loss continues, bearings can overheat and fail. Damage can extend to the hub and axle spindle, turning a seal repair into a much larger wheel-end or axle repair.

The goal: find the leak, identify its cause, and address it before lubrication loss damages the surrounding components. Simply topping off the oil does not repair a leaking seal.

03 / ENGINE OIL & FILTERS

Protect the Lifeblood of Your Engine

Engine oil does more than lubricate. It helps carry heat away from moving parts, holds contaminants in suspension, and protects critical surfaces throughout the engine.

Overdue, contaminated, or insufficient oil can compromise that protection, increasing wear on bearings, piston rings, cylinder surfaces, and turbocharger components. Replacing oil and filters on the right schedule helps reduce the risk of expensive internal damage.

The goal: use the correct oil and filters and follow the engine manufacturer’s service guidance, accounting for mileage, engine hours, idling, load, and operating conditions. There is no single oil-change interval that fits every truck.

Know What Needs Attention—and What to Plan For

Your inspection report gives you a clearer picture of your equipment’s condition. We explain the concerns we find and help you understand the next steps, whether that means an urgent repair, additional diagnosis, or maintenance to schedule.

Regular inspections also help catch coolant leaks, deteriorating hoses, belt wear, brake problems, and tire damage before they become roadside downtime. For a single truck or an entire fleet, the purpose is the same: make maintenance decisions with information, not surprises.

An inspection is a snapshot of accessible components at the time of service. Some internal problems require additional testing; routine maintenance reduces risk but cannot prevent every failure.
